GREETINGS FROM THE SECRETARY-GENERAL
Becoming self-minded to tackle the upcoming era
We, Kansai Model United Nations Conferences (KMUNC) Headquarters, have been hosting a national-leveled Model United Nations (MUN) conference for the past 15 years.
We are often asked, “What do you do in MUN?” MUN is an activity that literally “models UN conferences.” MUN activities are conducted in order to enwiden the MUN community and to foster human resources in the global community.
The interesting fact about MUN that is different from other extracurricular “international” activities is that the participants are able to “raise the awareness on international issues by themselves.” In a typical school education, we are only trained to solve problems that are provided for us by the teachers. In MUN, however, we are able to choose, to have a choice in which conference they want to participate in, and decide for ourselves what international issues we would like to tackle.
In order to maximize this potential of MUN, we will provide you with six Japanese conferences as well as one all-English conference, so that participants from all over Japan, including high school students, will be able to compete and learn from each other in MUN.
MUN activities are becoming a trend not only among universities but also in junior/senior high schools. Especially this year, an international MUN conference had been held in Kobe, gathering attention from many factors. Why not join us in this cutting-edged voyage to the international community?
I look forward to seeing you all in Kobe.
The 17th Kansai Model United Nations Conference
Secretary General
